Add More IRON to Your Diet

“SUIT UP!” – Barney Stinson, How I Met Your Mother

You can add ACDC’s “Back in Black” to your playlist and get into a groove for the next rocking Iron Man film. Hopefully Iron Man 3 blows away our expectations even more than the trailer blows up Tony’s palatial home. You can always pre-funk with friends and watch the first two films (plus The Avengers, naturally). However, it might be even MORE fun to sift the plethora of intriguing narrative themes that both plague and positively affect our flawed protagonist in the series.

Will you let the action of the latest iron-entry just wash over you, avoiding deeper implications with emotional repulsor rays… or will you let the applications crack your armor and add a touch of transformation to your heart?

Iron-Man-3

Even the trailer for the third installment boasts more than simply spectacle, focusing on themes related to fear, love, revenge, and what gives life – and death – meaning.

“Ladies, children, sheep… some people call me a terrorist. I consider myself a teacher. Lesson number one: Heroes, there is no such thing… I’m going to offer you a choice: do you want an empty life, or a meaningful death?” – the Mandarin (Stark’s nemesis in Iron Man 3)

What makes a hero, if there IS one? To get your philosophical arc reactors online, we’ve assembled Cinemagogue’s musings and Stark examinations for you below: just click on any of the choices in the list below including written, audio, and video entries.

Go into the new film equipped to enjoy it for all it’s worth, and perhaps to start conversation with your own assemblage and fly high on this film’s spiritual core.
