Back in Time to THE TERMINATOR

He said “I’ll be back”… and here we are!

In our post on the 2018 film UPGRADE, we noted director Leigh Whannel’s inspirations which included 80s classics Robocop and The Terminator. Particularly of note, Whannel considers many of these films “horror movies in a sci-fi skin”. So we went back in time to look at this inspiration, oft-copied classic.

In what ways does this story parallel biblical themes? In what ways does it clearly veer away from, or even invert, those same biblical themes? We talk about the ideas of technology as something to be feared – technology as control over man, or even as replacement for man. And a lot more!
