Kirk was Jenson Ackles. His characters always have the same traits as Kirk & there's even some resemblance to a young Bill Shatner. I think the fanbase is for it, but is JJ & his casting people? If Quinto can do "Heroes" while juggling the Trek movie, then why not Jensen? The first actor who popped in my head to play the new Capt. Kirk was Jenson Ackles. The actor is talented and charismatic enough to fit the role perfectly. It would be a shame if this went through but Jensen wasn't cast because his name isn't "big enough".
