i went and saw this opening night. i was already in a funk from a super sad book i had finished the night before. this movie did not help. i found it to have an overwhelming sadness about it and i walked out with a feeling of emptiness and the realization that i just wasted 2 hours of my life. the technical elements of acting were in place as it was fairly well acted. however, the plot becomes tedious to witness as you just want to know the end to the story which will inevitably disappoint you. and speaking of disappoint, i was very disappointed by the scene with the priest. what an opportunity to provide witness by filming a consultation with a religious figure. instead though, the audience is left to believe in odd mysticism accompanied by the fleeting thought that catholics are creepy. there is a message to the movie. i get it. don't take for granted the time you have with your loved ones, blah, blah, blah. the message was poorly conveyed though and i would hesitate to recommend this movie unless the person is a diehard sandra bullock fan who has to see absolutely everything she does.
